A brisk, spring walk along the sea front is the perfect way to start a Saturday morning – especially when you’re accompanied by a gaggle of Marmalutes and Huskies. Despite the wind blowing a gale, we set off from Leigh-on-Sea station carpark bright and early, taking in the sound of the waves and enjoying the salty air. To say the dogs were in their element was an understatement!
With 15 pooches joining us for the three mile walk, we strolled along the beach and enjoyed a paddle in the water. Each one was on their best behavior, splashing in the chilly sea and having a whale of a time playing all together. We even bumped into some other mutts who were enjoying a morning stroll, including two pugs and a St Bernard.
After being set up 13 months ago, this walking group gets together once or twice a month and has 215 members. Visiting various locations across the area, the walking group gives owners and their dogs the chance to meet new friends, catch up and have lots of playtime with other pooches. In addition, most of the dogs which attend are rescues, making the meet-ups even more special for them.
